Background
i was born and raised in the Austrian countryside, and in and around Chicago. The extreme opposites have shaped how i think, act, and feel. i went from academia — translating, editing, and writing texts in Philosophy — to body-based practices such as butoh dance, and contemporary dance. While i was in Bergen on Erasmus i found a regular yoga practice that has anchored me ever since (a dear friend of mine, Anna, gave me the idea). My teacher back then was called Tina, and i am still so grateful to have met her. When i found out about Somatic ExperiencingR, i decided to dedicate my life to connecting the mind and the body — not just in theory, but in practice. i do research on trauma, something i call the practice of critical therapy — and its connection to different art forms. i believe that there is much more that is therapeutic than what the white, Western, and bourgeoisie mind might consider to be. The body (SOMA) knows the way. All we have to do is listen.
